British  Army  L1A1  SLR  7.62  Service Rifle

                 BSA & Co manufactured  1960

Fitted with British Army Trilux SUIT sight

This is a very nice BSA manufactured British Army L1A1 Service Rifle fitted with a Trilux suit sight.

This rifle was manufactured in 1960 at the BSA rifle plant in Birmingham as part of the contract to supply L1A1's to the British Army.

This British Army L1A1 is fitted with a Trilux suit sight for accurate target acquisition rather than use iron sights.  The Trilux suit sight fitted to this rifle has great optics and was last service at Donnington 2nd February 1985 and in nice original condition.

A nice clean rifle 65 years old .

The L1A1 service rifle is probably the best British service rifle ever manufactured and far better that what replaced the L1A1.  The L1A1 was removed from front line service in 1987-88 and put into the British Army War Reserve stock.

In 1990 in the First Gulf war 5,000  L1A1 withdrawn from War reserve and were sent to the British troops in the First Gulf war as 'replacement' service rifle was jamming and falling apart in the desert condition.
