    Lee Metford Mk1*  dated 1891  .303 Service rifle

                   RSAF  Enfield manufactured

        This immaculate condition Lee Metford Mk1*   .303 was manufactured in 1891 by RSAF Enfield and was the upgrade of the Mk1 Lee Metford.

         This fantastic condition of this Lee Metford could be classed as  'Museum Standard' and by far the best condition Lee Metford currently on the world market.  

         The Lee Metford was adopted by the British Army after extensive troop trial's were completed in 1888-1889 .  The trials program lasted 9 years from 1880 -1889 but in the end the Lee Metford won the contract.  

         The Lee Metford was one of seven trials rifles competing to gain the British Army's contract in 1888,  the Lee Metford was adopted as the standard British Army Service rifle.
